Endless Choices

Somewhere along my path of awakening, I came to the awareness that my entire life was essentially just a continuing series of choices. I hadn’t really thought about my power of choice before that, and when I finally came around to this way of thinking, it was a head-slapping moment for me. I can still remember the feeling of my eyes opening wide as I heard a voice in my head telling me:

Every decision you make in your life—no matter how informed you are, no matter how mature you are—is your decision, for better or worse, regardless of the outcome it creates. This is true for all decisions, whether you make them consciously or unconsciously.

In retrospect, this seems like a completely self-evident statement to me, but I had been living much of my life in a mostly unconscious way, so I wasn’t really thinking about my choices from a place of awareness… (Please watch the video for more—and remember to leave a comment in the section below.)

In the bigger picture, everything is choice. Everything you think, say, do and feel are choices you are making in every single moment. If you want to, you can always choose thoughts, words, actions and emotions that reflect the best and most magnificent aspects of who you really are. In every moment, you can choose happiness, generosity, gratitude, or compassion. In every moment, you can choose forgiveness, truth, integrity, or passion. And in every moment, even in your most mundane choices, you can always choose from a place of love.

May all your choices be filled with love and compassion, and may you enjoy the beautiful and generous bounty of those choices.
